Internationalization of knowledge from the perspective of the HEIs of the Northeast Region of Brazil
INTRODUCTION
The Universidade do Estado da Bahia – UNEB, through its Special Department of International Relations – SERINT, its Group of Studies and Research on Internationalization and Interculturality, in partnership with the Higher Education Institutions of Bahia, promotes the Ist INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS on Internationalization of Knowledge from the Perspective of the HEIs of the Northeast Region of Brazil, with the purpose of strengthening this process and the relationships between the Northeast Region’s Institutions.

The international integration of Brazilian universities, especially Northeastern universities, transcends its agenda of commitments in a continuous work in order to overcome the challenges imposed. These universities need to contribute to the implementation of public policies on education and human, scientific and technological development, through education, research and extension, technological innovation and social interaction, with national and international scope.
Within this context, in which the demands of these days present many challenges to the Universities, the Universities of the Northeast Region, given their condition of promoters of knowledge, which makes them pursue their expansion of national and international partnerships, shall further efforts towards the realization of a joint agenda that strengthens the actions on internationalization of the relevant institutions.

According to the etimology of the prefix INTER and the nature of the Ist INTERnational Congress, the INTERinstitutional, INTERuniversity, INTERsectorial, INTERmunicipal, INTERcultural, INTERactive, and INTERdisciplinary dimensions take part in the actions to the consolidation of internationalization.
